The Abbey Church was mainly built in the 15th Century and has the heaviest ring of 8 bells in the world. The fan vaulted ceiling is a beautiful feature. Detailed information inside the Abbey and a choice of children’s trails available.

Sherborne Markets
Every Thursday and Saturday you will find home made goods and local produce at Sherborne Market in Cheap Street- On the 3rd Friday of every month there is also a Farmer’s Market. You can visit the WI Country Market on Thursdays from 9.15am -11.15am in the Digby Memorial Hall.

Sherborne Old Castle (English Heritage)

Built in the 12th Century, the Old Castle was besieged by Cromwell’s army during the Civil War and you can now visit the ruins, entering through the imposing gatehouse. Picnics encouraged.

Open Daily : 10am – 5pm or 6pm April to October. From 1st Nov, closed for winter.
Sherborne Steam and Waterwheel Centre Oborne Rd, Sherborne, Dorset DT9 3RX
Probably the largest working water wheel in Dorset. Parking on site and lots of room for picnics.

Cycle Routes
Pick up information from the Tourist Information Centre on the two cycle routes which pass through Sherborne. Route 26 heads south to Dorchester and Route 30 takes you into Somerset. Also available are two leaflets showing cycle routes around Sherborne and an Active Travel map that give further suggestions for cycling locally
