Attractions in Sherborne

A glimpse through to the quad at Sherborne School – location for films like The Imitation Game, Wolf Hall and Far from the Madding Crowd.

Sherborne is a town with two castles, one Abbey, a famous public school founded by a king, a fascinating museum, its very own Blue Badge Guides to tell you all about the town’s long history and a fascinating high street full of independent shops as well as chains.

There is a peaceful park adjacent to a handy Waitrose where you can sit and admire the house that was the former home of William Charles Macready,  and visited by author Charles Dickens.

There are so many things to see and discover in Sherborne. For example, it has the largest working waterwheel in Dorset, measuring 26 feet (nearly 8 metres) in diameter and 3’9” (114cms) in width.
