This family day-out is held to raise funds for local children’s charities and youth organisations. The Knights of Royal England are well known for presenting our most popular jousting tournament which recreates a late 13th century joust. The real Mediaeval Tourney in this period may have lasted 3-4 days. In the timescales afforded to us when we recreate this spectacle for you, we are able to pick out the highlights, the action bits, the crashes, the spectacle of the wonderful horses striking out at full gallop and the excitement and the drama without losing any of the pomp and pagaentry. During each day of our Tourney we condense all this into two action packed 45 minute tournaments. Fantastic fun and enjoyment for all the family. Opening Time: 10am – 4pm. Sunday 30 July to Sunday 13 August / Sherborne Summer School of Music Sherborne Summer School of Music hosts 18 courses in all musical disciplins all taught by eminent international performers and teachers. There are two Orchestras (symphony and chamber), four Choirs (large chorus, chamber choir, close harmony choir and a no sheet music choir), Masterclasses in Piano, Piano Accompaniment and Singing (2), Jazz Course, Composition, four Conducting Courses (two orchestral, choral conducting and wind conducting), Mixed Chamber Music and Wind Ensemble. Monday 31st July to Saturday 12 August / Concertfest Concertfest, now in it’s 15th season is a series of concerts that run concurrently with the summer music school, Sherborne Summer School of Music held at Sherborne School. There will be circa thirty concerts in all disciplins given by professional and student performers. These will take place from the end of July to mid August in Sherborne at venues including Cheap Street Church, Sherborne Abbey and Sherborne School.
