On Tuesday 1st May 2012, Sherborne received an official visit from HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Duke of Edinburgh as part of the Diamond Jubilee tour of the UK. The rain stopped and the excitement in the town grew as the Queen arrived on the Royal Train. The official procession moved up South Street and into Half Moon Street to the Abbey.
