Cerne Abbas Giant (12 miles south of Sherborne)

Pick up a village trail from the Cerne Abbas village shop, or park in the designated viewing area where you will have a good view of the world famous chalk figure. You can also walk up the steep hill to get a close up view, but walking on the figure itself is prohibited.

Ham Hill Country Park (12 miles west of Sherborne)

Located outside Norton Sub Hamdon the park is centred on an Iron Age Hill Fort.  There is extensive free car parking and a wealth of open, hilly countryside  to explore as well as shadey woodlands and interesting old quarry areas.  There is also a designated barbecue area and it is the perfect place for a family picnic.

Minterne House Gardens (10 miles south of Sherborne)

These famous gardens, laid out in the style of Capability Brown, are known for their superb collection of rhododendrons and azaleas which give a dazzling display of colour in the spring.  The garden is also noted for snowdrops, and later on in the year, its autumn colour.

Ninesprings (6 miles west of Sherborne)

Ninesprings Country Park is situated within the town of Yeovil and offers 127 acres of natural parkland. There is beautiful woodland, streams, a lake,  open grass and a play area. There are plenty of woodland trails and the  open flat area is ideal for ball games, kites and picnics.  There is a cycleway along the old railway network.
